On Tuesday March 3rd the High School held a winter recognition assembly. The short assembly recognized all of the great achievements by our activities throughout the winter season. With the help of the cheerleaders the band kicked of the assembly with the school song. The dance team performed their state jazz routine and Mr. Vandehaar wrapped things up with the JAYS cheer! GBB– 14-9 won first round of regionals, lost a heartbreaker in the second round
BBB– 10-13 won first round of districts, lost a tough game to Oskaloosa last Thursday.
Bowling- The boys team won the two rivers conference meet, with Blaine Adams shooting the top individual mark securing a first team all-conference spot. Kameron Doughman & Jessica Dupre earned second team all conference honors. Mason Murphy, Andrew Ulmer, Ryan Stanley, Tori Carroll, Grainne Smith, Emily Shafer, Brindle Shafer & Lacey Beck all earned all conference honorable mention! GPA
Large Group Speech– 10 events (35 total students) received division “I” ratings at districts and moved on to the state contest. The radio broadcasting team of Wyatt Bailey, Lacey Beck, John Powers & Alex Swift All-State Honors. Individual Speech participated at districts in Madrid last Saturday and head to Council bluffs on March 14th
Choir– Wyatt Bailey was one of less than 100 singers from across the state chosen to participate in the ISU Honor Choir in February. Students from across the school performed in acts at the BF Variety Show over two nights. This coming Sunday, March 8th, the After Four Jazz Choir will complete their season by performing in a 2pm concert combined with the Jazz Band at the BFHS Auditorium.

Dance– The Bondurant-Farrar Dance Team competed at the Iowa State Dance Championships at Wells Fargo Arena and Hy-Vee Hall on Friday, December 6. The team competed in three categories of dance: lyrical, hip hop, and jazz. The team placed 5th in Class III Lyrical and placed 3rd in Class VI Hip Hop. The team was crowned champions in Class V Jazz for the first time in Bondurant-Farrar school history. This was also the first time for a Bondurant team to place in all three categories. For the first time, our team has been asked to perform our jazz routine at the Girls’ State Basketball Tournament! This is really a high honor as only the best of the best get invited to perform at the state tournament. The team dances tonight Tuesday, March 3 during halftime of the 8:30 PM game.
FFA– Grace Johnson was the first Bondurant-Farrar FFA member to be balloted for District FFA Office. She will be delivering a 2-minute speech in front of delegates from across our district to possibly obtain the position of South Central District Treasurer.
We also have other FFA members competing at district convention against 48 other schools from our district. Our parliamentary procedure team won a Gold Rating and first place at sub-district contest. Our team was consisting of Brett Beukema, Val Beukema, Rachel Currant, Grace Johnson, and Grant McIntosh. Bridget Johnson was our FFA Creed Speaker. She won a Gold rating at sub-districts and came in second place. We also have a team of students that are building a website that will be presented on Saturday. That team is Avery Britt, Marcus Doyle, Carter Sanny, and Landon Sparks. There is also a team of students taking an FFA general knowledge exam. Those students are Gunnar Bailey, Tyson Lillegard, Hudson McIntosh, and Estella Smith.
Art-The Scholastic All-State Art awards were announced in February and 13(Trevor Davidson, Kirby Daniel, Campbell Murra, Tommy Hamborg, Casi Waterhouse, Katelyn Nelson, Jordan Nelson, Wyatt Bailey, Natalie McDaniels, Zac Clifford, Jaeni Sprague, Cash Lilly, Eli Clayton) students earned a record 29 awards, most by any school in the state. The highest honors went to Natalie McDaniels with a Gold Key Portfolio which was the only portfolio with the highest honor in the state. Wyatt Bailey and Cash Lilly were 2 of only 3 students in the state to earn the prestigious Grant Wood Legacy Art Award. 6 individuals art pieces move on to the national competition Wyatt Bailey, Natalie McDaniels, Zac Clifford, Jaeni Sprague, Cash Lilly, Eli Clayton. Eli Claytons art piece earned best of 11th grade in the whole state!
Cheer– The Iowa Cheerleading Coaches’ Association in conjunction with the Iowa Basketball Coaches’ Association has announced its selection of cheerleaders to be on the All-Star Cheer Squad to perform at the IBCA Basketball All-Star Tournament held March 28, 2020, at the Dallas-Center Grimes High School.
